I find it takes an extra turn for each tile of road laid. When you first run the game it will do setup of required components and such. No enemies are within 50 hexes of the city and yet no automated workers will build within 3 hexes of the city. Civ 5 Workers Won't Automate Myself I have the cd versions of all three.

I use no mods. This problem is turning out to be a really bad PR excercise for the Civilization franchise, imho. Actually I don't find them necessary in the early game as the economy is running pretty well using gold from resourse tiles.

Using the long road building ability is actually useless and leads to turn by turn micromanaging. Is there any point in ultra-high ISO for DSLR [not film]? The time now is 10:29 PM.
