I am willing to install all my programs again, that is not the problem. Any pointers appreciated. But monitoring your HDD or SSD, to act when their death becomes likely, is a first step. That was not a huge surprise.
So I ran "diskpart" on an elevated command prompt (i.e. Type cmd in the Search programs and files box. It worked for me. may I'm ussing chkdsk with the wrong parameters..
